I was asked about cheap Linux CD's at our June 18th meeting.
A search on the web reveals many sites that sell linux CD's cheaply. In
fact, when I first did that, I was so amazed that it changed how I viewed
purchasing software. It's amazing how some software companies can get away
with charging so much for their software, when the open source community can
get stuff to people SO cheaply!
The place mentioned by a member last evening was:
www.linuxcentral.com
I think he said he bought 8 CD's for twenty something dollars INCLUDING about
$6 for 2nd day air shipping.
A number of members have used Linux Sytem Labs. They were also reasonably
priced.
I forgot the name of the place I last bought Linux CD's from...the cost had
been $0.49 a cd, plus about $1.50 shipping per CD. Note the big thing to pay
attention to is the shipping cost.
Also, remember, with open source stuff, you can buy a copy of CD's, then make
copies and give them to ANYONE and EVERYONE you want, without having to worry
about breaking a licensing law. Thus, if two or three people want the same
CD, the cost virtually becomes the cost of a blank CDR disk!
